Last Sunday, after church, we decided to try out a new barbecue spot in Montgomery we’ve heard great things about. We had a craving for barbecue and we wanted something different from our normal spot. This time we stopped in at Shane’s Rib Shack in the Perry Hill Crossing Shopping Center. The shopping center is fairly new to the River Region and it’s in such a great location, I can’t believe we hadn’t stopped by before.
Shane’s Rib Shack was started in 2001 by Shane Thompson. Shane ditched his corporate job and decided to follow a dream, with his wife Stacey. He dusted off his grandfather Bid Dad’s secret BBQ recipe and opened up the very first shack in McDonough, GA.
Shane’s Rib Shack is a casual fast food setting with an above average customer service team. We’ve noticed at many restaurants we’ve been too customer service is sometimes lacking but at Shane’s that wasn’t the case. The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to meet customer needs.
Their menu offers a great variety of barbecue options, sure to please everyone in the family. I also want to mention the great prices to portion sizes. Most meals will run you a little under $10 and are severed with a heaping portion of two sides. We were able to get through the line, order, fix drinks, find a table, and receive our food all in under 20 minutes. Like I said before the staff at Shane’s Rib Shack in Montgomery are some of the best.
Once we received our meals it was time to dig in. The BBQ sauce was caramelized perfectly on the smoked meat. Chad had the ribs and I had the half chicken with green beans and mac n cheese. The flavor of the barbecue sauces we both agreed was better than any other barbecue sauce we’ve had prior to this visit. It was packed full of flavor with a tad bit of a kick to it. The meat was juicy, tender, and packed full of that delicious smoked flavor you look for when biting into BBQ. The mac n cheese was gooey and cheesy while the green beans carried the perfect amount of salt. There wasn’t one thing about our meal we didn’t absolutely love. Even the kid’s approved!
For dessert we sampled the warm, fabulous homemade peach cobbler and creamy, fresh banana pudding. If you are from the South you know how much of a snob we are about our peach cobbler and banana pudding. My grandmother passed away a few years back and even she would have raved about the true southern flavors of these two desserts at Shane’s. Next time you are in Montgomery, whether you live here or you are just passing through, stop by Shane’s Rib Shack and indulge in some of the best BBQ in the River Region!
