How to Look Your Glowing Best When On the Road
There’s much to enjoy about leaving the everyday behind and going on an adventure. Seeing the sights, meeting new people, the knowledge that you’re not quite sure what tomorrow will bring – it’s exciting! However, while our souls may be thrived by our traveling, sometimes it’s not quite as kind to our looks. And with so many vacation snaps being taken, we’re usually pretty eager to look at our best. Below, we take a look at a few useful tips that’ll ensure you’re always able to selfie-ready, no matter how much fun you’re trying to pack into your travels.
Hit the Shops
Setting off on a trip somewhere fun and exciting gives you the perfect excuse to do something you’ve been itching for: hitting the shops! You don’t want to be wearing our old, ragged clothing when you’re swanning about a capital city or frolicking on the beach, so take a look at updating your wardrobe. You’ll feel and look great, and that’s all that matters! It might also be necessary if you’re visiting a place that has a different climate to what you’re used to. And talking of which….
Be Prepared for the Weather
If you’re going on a skiing trip, then it won’t really matter what you’re looking like: you’re going to be hidden under multiple layers, and, in most cases, in most of the photos you’ll be wearing a big helmet and goggles. So no concerns about looking your best! But for most other places, to look your best, you’ll need to factor in the weather. If you’re going somewhere tropical, then humidity might be an issue. If you’re visiting a northern European city, then rain might be on hand to spoil your looks. Think ahead to what weather you can expect, and then make sure you’re packing the appropriate clothing and beauty products.
Rock the Accessories
The usual rules don’t apply when you’re hundreds of miles away from home, so why not get playful and freshen up your look with a few accessories? These actually hold a dual purpose. In the case of hats and sunglasses, they can help cover up and tired eyes or bad hair days. In the case of jewelry and the like, they’ll help to give you a new look.
Get the Lotions
If you’re visiting a hot destination, then you’ll be excited about spending so many days in the sunshine, but you’ll also need to keep in mind that the sun won’t always be your friend. Indeed, it can ruin each and every one of your vacation snaps if you get yourself burned! As such, to look your best, you need to make sure you’ve packed plenty of suntan lotion, and that you’re applying it regularly. It’s not just avoiding being burned that you’ll need to be concerned about, either. Spending days walking around in a hot climate can dry out your skin like nothing else; find a moisturizer that works for you, and keep your skin nice and hydrated! As well as the products, you’ll be well-served by picking up a big, refillable water bottle and drinking more water than you usually would.
Keeping the Hair in Check
You might have the best clothes. You may have gradually worked your way up to spending more time in the sun, and now be sporting a healthy glow. In most of the important areas, you’re killing it! But there’s one thing that’s letting your look done, and it’s a big one: your hair. When we’re traveling, we’re usually not able to make it to a hair appointment, and thus have to live with whatever our hair decides to do – or do we? If you have dyed hair, then you don’t have just to accept it when your roots begin to show. You can use a root-cover up, which will tide you over until you can make it to your hairdresser; they only take a couple of minutes to apply. Get more information like this, and you’ll be on your way to beautiful locks in no time. If your hair is prone to frizz, you may also want to consider looking up hair products that will keep the effects of humidity at bay – especially if you’re heading somewhere tropical.
Avoid too Many Late Nights
Now, we know that the rules, to an extent, go out of the window when you’re away from home. But just because you have the freedom to do whatever you want, that doesn’t mean you should always do it! Let’s think about late nights. When you don’t have to work in the morning, the temptation may be to have another glass of wine (or several..). While you’ll have a good time, have a think about how too many late nights can affect your appearance. Unless it’s a special evening, you might want to consider turning into bed early – you’re unlikely to regret it, especially when you’re showing your friends and family your vacation snaps after you’ve returned home!
Consider Splashing Out
You’re on vacation, so why not treat yourself? If you’re visiting a place that’s famous for its spa treatments, then this is one of the best ways to look your refreshed, glowing best. If nothing else, you’re going to have chilled out, relaxed look and feel about you – and it’s much easier to look our best when we’re happy and relaxed!
Don’t Ditch the Diet
If you’ve spent all year sticking to a diet, then why would you want to undo all of your good work, just because you’re away from home? While it’s recommended to try the delicious local dishes, you might want to hold back when it comes to getting those after-dinner ice-creams.
Finally, remember that you can always work out when you’re traveling! Of course, you shouldn’t spend all your time in the gym, but running or cycling? They’re great ways to stay in shape and to explore your temporary surroundings all at the same time. You’ll get those endorphins up, and can work off any of those ice-creams you sneakily enjoyed!
