Firebirds Wood Fired Grill Releases Their New Spring Features Menu and It’s EVERYTHING We’ve Been Missing

It was a cold Wednesday night here in Alabama, we’ve been having quite a few of those lately, and it was a perfect night to visit our local Montgomery Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. This past Wednesday, March 21, Firebirds released their new Spring Menu and I have to admit it’s everything I’ve been missing lately. Josh and Adam were our hosts for the evening and they did an outstanding job at providing us with the utmost Southern hospitality we’ve had in quite a while. Their new Spring Menu is the perfect combination of land and sea with a little something for everyone.

We started with the Citrus Grilled Scallops which were cooked to perfection. The scallops are served on a bed of charred-corn bacon sauce and was what reminded me of a creamy corn chowder. When the scallops mix with the sauce it’s like perfection in your mouth. The creamy corn flavor of the sauce and the wood fired grill flavor from the scallops we’re even a hit with Cullen, he’s only 6. Cullen scarfed down three scallops by himself and would have kept going were it not for me stopping him. In our house if it’s outside of the normal hamburger and chicken finger tradition and Cullen eats it, that is the highest recommendation one can receive.

Firebirds Spring Menu is offered during two parts of the day. One for lunch and one for dinner with a few variations between the two. On our recent visit to Firebirds in Montgomery we tried the Lemon-Basil Grilled Salmon which is offered during lunch time hours. I have to admit I wasn’t going to pick the salmon plate because I can be very picky about my salmon. Adam, our server, highly recommended it. In fact, Adam suggested it was the main item on their Spring Menu he wanted us to try. Even a little skeptical, I decided that if it came highly recommended then I of course had to give it a shot. I am happy to report the salmon did not disappoint. It was actually one of the less fishy salmon I’ve had, which was a hit with Chad. The salmon had the same delicious grilled flavor as the scallops. What really pushed their Lemon-Basil Salmon over the top for me was the tart flavor of the lemon-basil sauce. When the sauce combined with the grill flavor and the sea flavor the three were a match made in heaven.

For our last entree we had the Beef Tenderloin with Shrimp and it was the best way we could have finished the entree course. The filet is served on a bed of creamed spinach, topped with pan seared jumbo shrimp and finished with a Chardonnay creole cream sauce. In the 27 and 29 years of life between Chad and I we both agreed this was the second best steak either of us have had. We’ve both eaten a filet before but none have been as full of flavor as this dish. The creole cream sauce was a thick creamy sauce that stuck to this beautifully cooked filet perfectly. The filet melted in our mouths, unlike any previous steak (including filet’s) we’ve eaten. The two jumbo shrimp were juicy and when combined with the creole sauce had an almost popcorn flavor, which may sound weird but was actually the icing on the cake for this dish!

Lastly we finished our dish with the Spring Menu dessert, Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. Josh told us about the popularity of this cake and finishing with it was what made this meal one of the best. The Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is served warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, fresh berries and a berry sauce. If you love berries this is the perfect dessert for you. The soft, moist butter cake absorbs the blackberry flavored sauce making this one of our new favorite desserts.

From delicious food to over the top Southern hospitality for the perfect date night spot or a treat for Mom on Mother’s Day, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is the perfect spot for any occasion. Their new Spring Menu is one that still has our mouths watering as we anxiously plan our next visit.
