I finally got the chance to try Blue Apron and I jumped for joy! If you are not familiar with Blue Apron then please allow me to give you some insight. Blue Apron going to change your cooking game. They provide fresh ingredients and original recipes, delivered to your door!

I am a busy on the go Mom and Wife! Anytime there is a way to save me time I hop right on board. I should mention I live in the South. I come from a family who likes everything battered and fried, but I am constantly looking for ways to mix up dinner. I will also say that the Mr. loves his food friend too BUT he is very open at trying things, as long as I am doing the cooking. Last week I turned to Blue Apron for our meal plans and was surprisingly impressed. Each box comes refrigerated, very well and packed full of everything you will need to complete each meal. Each meal includes recipe cards with step by step instructions. The ingredients inside the box are labelled, making it easy to find ingredients for each recipe. I was very impressed at how fresh the produce and meat were. The meat I received was organic, no hormones/antibiotics and vegetarian fed.

Roasted Pork w/ Beet and Cranberry Agrodolce – This meal was very different for us. The pork and seasoning that went on the pork after baking tasted amazing! The down side to this recipe for us was the beet and the Red Wine Vinegar. The vinegar was just to strong for us. I’ve also never cooked Farro before so I was unsure how to cook it and season it, aside from what the directions said. It was okay but we would have probably preferred rice.

Crispy Chicken w/ Mashed Potato & Spicy Collard Greens – This dish was a hit, maybe because it was fried! I’m not normally one to follow directions but with these cards I did so I would get the full experience. The seasoning on the chicken was simple salt and pepper with flour. I wish I could express how difficult it was for me to just season with salt and pepper but thankfully it worked out great! The only thing I did to the greens that the recipe didn’t call for was add bacon grease. Yes, we keep bacon grease on hand 100% of the time! Hubby really liked them and he usually doesn’t eat them without ham cooked in them. I will also say this recipe only required 1 potato which I was skeptical about it being enough for two people but it was perfect!

Seared Salmon w/ Glazed Carrots and Saffron-Yogurt Sauce – This is one meal my hubby didn’t get to enjoy with me. He doesn’t do fish so he opted out. I really enjoyed it though! I don’t normally eat skin on salmon but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. I’m just funny about the skin. The carrots were my favorite! This was a great dish to change up my cooking as I never get the chance to cook fish.
