The Ark Encounter
Could you imaging living in the days of Noah and The Ark?
A couple of weeks back my husband texted me on a last minute whim on going to visit the Ark Encounter, in Kentucky! Thankfully my job is pretty flexible because I was able to get the next three days off and it was Kentucky bound.
To get to the Ark Encounter there is a short 1 mile bus tour. It was freezing the day we went mostly due to the wind so the warm shuttle bus was life!
If you aren’t familiar with the Ark Encounter then please allow me to explain. The Ark Encounter is a life-sized Noah’s Ark attraction. As you tour the Ark Encounter, you will quickly notice that it’s really three exhibits in one. The Ark itself is a massive exhibit that’s sure to take your breath away simply by its sheer size. The incredible craftsmanship is itself an exhibit, and all three decks of the Ark are full of state-of-the-art exhibits that will amaze and inspire you to think differently about the biblical account of Noah’s Ark.
Deck 1: The Flood Begins
After seeing Noah’s family in prayer at the start of the Flood, you will experience a variety of animal exhibits while learning which types of creatures, and how many of each, were brought on board.
As you are walking through the Ark the first thing you come to are cages and the cages holds two of each species.
Deck 2: Technology on the Ark
A spectacular tour through the Pre-Flood World leads to an array of exhibits detailing how Noah’s family could have maintained the Ark and cared for thousands of animals during the flood.
Deck 3: After the Flood
Roam through the magnificent Living Quarters then go on to discover the impact the Flood had on our world.
The entire Ark Encounter is one I am still speech less over. The beauty of each board used to make this replica can hardly be defined by pictures. Both Deck 2 and 3 have two different movies based on the Ark with seats for your enjoyment. Deck 3: After the Flood was my favorite. There are scrolls, papers, bibles among other things, that left me in awe. Seeing the beautiful work and words these papers and scrolls contained were well worth the ticket price!
There are also other areas on the grounds to take note of, including an Emzara’s Kitchen Restaurant and Camel Rides. I opted to stop by one of the popcorn tables and grabbed a bag of fresh popped Brown Sugar Caramel that was delicious!
- Fun Facts:
- The Ark itself is 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high.
- The Ark has 3.3 million board feet of timber.
- The Ark is the biggest timber-frame structure in the world
